Limbaži – lake Katvaru


The Greenway leads from the Hanseatic town Limbaži to the lake Katvaru using the historical reconstructed railway line Rīga–Rūjiena. The total length of the Greenway is about 7 km, but since it ends at the lake one also needs to cycle back. The Greenway is covered with sand and gravel, and completely restricted for motorized traffic.

The 7km Greenway between the ancient fishermen's villages Mazirbe and Sīkrags is located on a narrowly stretching land along the Baltic Sea on one side and the inland part of Slītere National Park, where the narrow-gauge railway once used to go. The Route of Latvian Rivers


A new route that goes through the National Parks, Biosphere reserves and the most beautiful Latvian rivers. The national cycling route along the rivers of Latvia is more than 400 km long and it is recommended for 7 – 10 days. The route is marked all the way, and mainly consists of asphalted roads with low traffic intensity, and bike paths that are mostly available in the cities – Salacgrīva, Limbaži and Sigulda. Ikšķile and Ogre bike path passes along the dam of the right bank of the Daugava River. The route has no rapid ascents, as it passes along rivers and lakes, except from the Gauja Valley in Turaida and Sigulda, where you can enjoy many nature and cultural sights. Read More

Gauja National Park is the first and the oldest National Park in Latvia.
