About route

This excellent route allows you to explore the Daugava River Valley Nature Park and three towns or districts along the Daugava River: Skrīveri, Aizkraukle, and Koknese. All three towns are also connected by a railway line, making it convenient to incorporate train transportation into your route planning and explore the region by bicycle. From Skrīveri to Aizkraukle, you can enjoy the scenic landscapes of the Daugava River Valley and experience some uphill and downhill sections as you approach the river, which the route follows for several segments. The route can be further diversified by reaching the final destination, Koknese, via a boat ride across the Pērse River from Bilstiņi to the ruins of Koknese Castle. The route concludes at Likteņdārzs, which can be reached via a naturally established scenic nature trail with wooden bridges crossing the ravines.
